Tree Service in Freedom

Freedom is a small community of approximately 200 residents in western Owen County, located along SR-67 west of Spencer. The area is deeply rural, with properties that tend to be larger — often several acres or more — and heavily wooded. The landscape features rolling hills covered in dense mixed-hardwood forest, interspersed with creek bottoms and small agricultural clearings.

Western Owen County's tree cover is among the densest in our service area. The Owen-Putnam State Forest lies just to the north, and the continuous forest canopy extends across private properties throughout the Freedom area. White oak, red oak, black walnut, tulip poplar, shagbark hickory, and American beech form the dominant canopy, with understory species including dogwood, redbud, and sassafras filling the gaps.

Properties in the Freedom area commonly accumulate stumps over years or decades of selective tree removal. A farm that has been in the same family for generations may have dozens of stumps scattered across pastures, fence lines, and the margins of wooded areas. These old stumps persist almost indefinitely in Owen County's clay-heavy soils — hardwood stumps from trees cut 20 years ago may still be largely intact. Multi-stump grinding jobs on these properties are common, and the per-stump cost drops significantly when we grind ten or more in a single visit.

Access to Freedom-area properties can require some planning. Gravel driveways, farm lanes, and the occasional creek ford are part of working in this part of Owen County.
